Which parts of Southern Indiana we cover
We work in five Indiana counties. In Clark County that means Jeffersonville, Clarksville, Sellersburg, and Charlestown. In Floyd County, New Albany, Georgetown, and Floyds Knobs. Harrison County takes in Corydon, Scott County covers Scottsburg, and Washington County covers Salem.
Those are the places we list because those are the places we actually go. If you are near one of them and unsure whether you are inside the line, call and ask. The answer is usually yes.
Why the river does not change much, and what it does
Kentuckiana is one housing market and one weather system. The storm that puts hail through New Albany usually put it through the Highlands twenty minutes earlier. Housing stock on both sides of the river is broadly similar, and so are the problems that turn up on them.
What does change is administrative. Indiana permitting and inspection is handled by Indiana jurisdictions, not by Louisville Metro, and we deal with the right office for the address. From your side that should be invisible. It is worth mentioning only so you know the paperwork for an Indiana address is handled and is not something you need to arrange.
What we do over here
Everything we do in Kentucky.
Roof replacement and repair. Asphalt shingle work, from a targeted leak repair to a full tear off and replacement. We photograph the roof and show you the pictures before we quote.
Storm damage. Wind and hail inspection and repair, with the full scope documented in writing so you have something concrete to take to your insurer. Emergency tarping if the roof is open.
Siding. Vinyl and fiber cement, repaired in sections or replaced, plus trim, soffit, and fascia.
Seamless gutters. Formed on site, with guards, downspouts, and drainage work.
We look at all of them during a storm inspection, because a storm rarely damages only one surface.
Southern Indiana weather, and what it does to roofs
Clark and Floyd counties sit in the same weather as Jefferson County, so a roof here faces what a roof in Louisville faces. What that does is worth understanding.
Wind lifts and creases shingles along ridges and edges. A creased shingle that stays on the roof is still a shingle that will come off in the next storm, which is why wind damage is worth finding before it becomes missing material.
Hail bruises shingles without leaking straight away. That delay is the problem: damage from a spring storm can show up as a leak the following winter, long after anyone connects the two.
Freeze and thaw through a Kentuckiana winter works on anything already cracked. Water gets into a split in a sealed gutter joint or under a lifted shingle, freezes, expands, and makes the gap bigger. Small problems found in October are considerably cheaper than the same problems found in March.
The practical advice is the same on both sides of the river: have it looked at after a significant storm rather than waiting for a ceiling stain.
